President William Ruto has received an invitation to participate in the upcoming “Summit on Peace in Ukraine,” as announced by Prime Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi. The invitation came following a meeting with a delegation led by EU Ambassador Henriette Geiger in Nairobi, where plans for the summit were outlined.

Mudavadi emphasized the significance of the summit, stating, “Kenya is committed to a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and continues to appeal for a diplomatic dialogue.” He further confirmed that President Ruto’s participation is under thoughtful consideration.

Scheduled for June 15-16, 2024, in Switzerland, the summit aims to facilitate crucial discussions on global issues such as nuclear security, food security, freedom of navigation, and humanitarian concerns. By fostering a shared understanding at the highest political level, the summit seeks to establish a just and enduring peace in Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter.
