ICT and the Digital Economy PS Eng. John Tanui has called on ICT officers to use their expertise and experience to transform the digital landscape and create digital jobs for the youth.

PS Tanui who spoke during the closing ceremony of an induction course for 10 newly appointed ICT Assistant Directors at the Ministry’s Headquarter  office noted that the officers who have been drawn from both the public and private sector bring in outstanding digital  skills and experience which is in line with the country’s Bottom up Economic Transformation Agenda(BETA).

He noted that the country’s Transformation agenda embraces digitalization of government services through the installation of the 100, 000 kilometers of the digital Superhighway which is a key standalone thematic area.

The PS noted that the ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy has been tasked with the crucial role of growing the digital economy through ensuring countrywide internet connectivity.

Eng. Tanui urged the ICT officers to address other challenges facing the country key among them the high cost of living, hunger, health and affordable housing where he called for inclusive growth and development in all sectors of the government.

Tanui further called on the officers to be up for the digital task ahead by exhibiting outstanding managerial and team work skills in an effort to grow the country’s Digital Economy.

In attendance was ICT Director Mr.Andrew Opiyo; Director Cyber Security Mr.Jackson Makewa; Director of Administration, Mr.Wesley Maritim; Director of Infrastructure Mr. Loyford Muriithi; Director Human Resource Management, Mr. Dominic Gicheru, among other senior state department officials.
