Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Investments Moses Kuria engaged in discussions with Wendy Gonzalez, the CEO of the world-leading Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) giant, Samasource on how they will create jobs for Kenyans. During their conversation, Gonzalez unveiled ambitious plans that promise to bolster employment opportunities for Kenyans.

Following the Kenya Kwanza government’s recent efforts to stimulate economic growth and create one million BPO jobs in the country, Samasource announced this week that it will be hiring 600 Kenyan professionals. Furthermore, in the coming two weeks, an additional 1500 Kenyans will join the ranks of this global leader in outsourcing services. The jobs will primarily focus on Computer Vision Artificial Intelligence (AI), a burgeoning field with vast potential.

CS Moses Kuria praised this initiative, stating, “Samasource’s commitment to expanding its operations in Kenya is proof  to the country’s favorable business climate and a reflection of our dedication to creating job opportunities for our citizens. The government’s vision of generating one million BPO jobs is becoming a reality thanks to partnerships like this one.”

The move into Computer Vision AI is particularly promising for Kenyans. This specialized field involves teaching computers to interpret visual information, making it a key driver of innovation across industries such as healthcare, automotive, and retail. With the rising global demand for AI-driven solutions, these job openings signify a golden opportunity for Kenyan talent to engage with cutting-edge technology.

Wendy Gonzalez, CEO of Samasource, emphasized the company’s commitment to investing in Kenya’s skilled workforce. “Kenya has shown itself to be a hub of talent and innovation. We are excited to partner with the Kenyan government to tap into this potential. Our expansion into Computer Vision AI will not only create jobs but also empower Kenyan professionals with expertise in a rapidly growing industry.”

The benefits for Kenyans are immense. Firstly, thousands of individuals will secure stable employment, providing them with financial security and the opportunity to develop new skills. Secondly, Samasource’s presence in Kenya will facilitate knowledge transfer and capacity building, ensuring that Kenyan workers are well-equipped to excel in the field of Computer Vision AI.

This expansion aligns with Kenya’s broader economic diversification goals. As the country endeavors to reduce its dependence on traditional sectors, investments in technology and innovation become important. The move into Computer Vision AI by a global industry leader like Samasource positions Kenya as a regional tech hub, attracting further investments and fostering entrepreneurship.

Samasource’s decision to expand its operations in Kenya through the creation of thousands of jobs in the Computer Vision AI sector is a testament to the country’s growing appeal as a business destination. Kenyan job seekers stand to benefit from stable employment and the chance to engage with cutting-edge technology. With this development, Kenya’s journey towards becoming a technology and innovation-driven economy takes a significant step forward
