The Tobacco Control Board, under the leadership of Hon. Naomi Shaaban, yesterday 23rd October 2023 met with Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary of the State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards, to address pressing concerns that hold profound significance for Kenyans.

At the core of these deliberations was the urgent need for legislative amendments, which would bestow the board with the autonomy required to more effectively regulate tobacco-related matters. The outcome of these changes would profoundly impact the health and well-being of Kenyans, signaling a renewed commitment to anti-tobacco measures.

Resource mobilization emerged as a central point of discussion, with a recognition that equipping the board with the necessary resources is paramount to fulfilling its mandate. These resources are pivotal in advancing public health initiatives and creating a safer environment for all Kenyans.
