During the signing of performance contracts by the Cabinet Secretaries at the State House a couple weeks ago, the Deputy President reminded the CSs that the most important expectation the President has in his government officials is performance. Efficient, dedicated service to the people, and most importantly, they should ensure they and their ministries should be corruption free.

The President has numerous times stated that the only way to economic growth is taking radical, unpopular but restorative ways such as reducing wastage in government and cracking the whip on corrupt officials either in the counties government or parastatals. H.E President Ruto has sworn to ensure any officials linked to corruption cases will face the full wrath of the law, promising that not even his friends and associates would be spared.

In a true show of the dedication to fighting corruption at all levels and areas of development, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Deputy President has been on the forefront to fighting corrupt cartels and unscrupulous brokers by digitizing farmer’s records. Previously, cartels and brokers were culprits in short changing farmers when receiving fertilizers. Corrupt brokers in tea and coffee auctions were also an incurring deterrent to farmers’ returns, a problem the government has sworn to solve and resolute.

The President has also reminded county governments to tame corruptions most especially in the procurement space.

Gava Mkononi, a service that has digitized more than 5,000 government services is not only aimed at easing Kenyan’s lives but to also reduce the cases of exploitation by some corrupt officials.

Directives such the one the President made to the Ministry of Lands to take over land valuation is another show of the Kenya Kwanza’s fight on elimination exploitations of Kenyans, increasing transparency and accountability and removing corruptions from all areas of governance.

This coming week, the EACC is will be hearing 6 cases of corruptions on various matters such as fraudulent payments of goods not received, where an Amos Mwangi and 6 others are charged with unlawfully attaining public property. Another notable hearing will be where the former Nairobi Governor and 16 others are charged with a conflict of interest, a conspiracy to embezzle about 24.1Million from the Nairobi County.

The EACC has been actively ensuring the arrests of numerous people accused of crimes such bribery, extortion, while making a plea to all Kenyans to report any suspected corrupt individuals through [email protected]  or Toll Free No. 1551.

The commission’s chairman, Dr. Oginde has reiterated the President’s goal of eradicating corruption and creating ethical conduct in the country.
