Ministry of Lands Cabinet Secretary is in South Africa where she and a delegation from the Ministry attended the South Africa- Kenya Affordable Housing Forum. This event is an opportunity for business and government to explore solutions to the affordable housing sector challenges.

The visit will also include high-level engagements between the Minister and Cabinet Secretary, senior officials, and entities on collaboration between South Africa and Kenya.

The countries collaboration will offer opportunities in the delivery of affordable housing for public and private entities along the entire housing development value chain, from manufacturing, construction, and other infrastructure development related sectors.

A cooperation framework will provide great resources for Africans and other developing nations on how to work together, improve technical capabilities of our Governments in the provision of decent and affordable housing, and mitigate informal settlements and slums within our countries.

Hon. Alice Wahome was earlier today received by South Africa’s Minister of Human Settlements, Hon. M.T Kubayi (M.P) ahead of the KENYA – SOUTH AFRICA Affordable Housing Implementation forum.

After high level bilateral talks, they toured The Townlands Estate Social Housing project which is a success.

The Kenyan government looks forward to a long and fruitful partnership with South Africa in the arena of human settlements and housing.
