Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has unveiled a comprehensive multi-agency strategy to tackle the rising threat of banditry, cattle rustling, and highway robberies in several counties across Kenya. Speaking at an event in Isiolo, CS Kindiki emphasized the urgent need for action against repeated incidents of insecurity caused by criminal elements.

“We are determined to suppress this culture of criminal attacks in the Northern Rift Valley and Upper Eastern Regions,” CS Kindiki declared. “This year, there is no escape route for criminals. The fire we have lit on them is just a warm-up.”

The plan includes the deployment of National Police Reservists to seal off escape routes used by bandits, as well as the use of modern security equipment on land, sea, and air. CS Kindiki assured that innocent individuals will not be victimized during the operations.

“We will gazette specific parts of Isiolo, Samburu, and Meru to ensure the operation is effective and achieves its desired results,” CS Kindiki stated. “No innocent person will be affected.”

This strategy aims to dismantle the infrastructure of banditry and livestock theft, bringing a new era of security and peace to the affected regions.
