The Ministry of Gender, Culture, Arts, and Heritage in joint partnership with Counties through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund has ensured the presence of child protection units in the fight against gender-based violence.

In alignment with this goal, Gender CS Aisha Jumwa launched two units in Kasagam and Ahero in Kisumu County.

The units will be vital in providing temporary shelter and psychosocial support services to the GBV survivors, the majority of whom are women.

Projects such as this one are key in realizing the Kenya Kwanza’s Manifesto on Women’s Empowerment commitment.

In addressing the rising sexual and Gender-based Violence affecting millions of women the Government has invested in several projects.

Among them is the construction and operationalization of Gender Based Violence (GBV) reporting units in police stations.

The government has also committed to increasing the number of Based Violence (GBV) trained personnel to support the survivors.

The Ministry of Gender together with NGAAF is in the process of constructing Gender Based Violence and Rescue Centers to address the protection and rehabilitation of Gender Based Violence (GBV) survivors.
