President William Ruto has revealed plans to transform the Hustler Fund into a Shariah-compliant financial initiative, responding to requests from Muslim leaders.

Speaking at the Iftar dinner at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto expressed his dedication to ensuring inclusivity in government programs.

“The way the financial system has been packaged, not many Muslims can access it. It is the first time I have received that request and I want to guarantee I will process it to make sure Hustler Fund is Shariah compliant so other Kenyans can benefit,” affirmed President Ruto, underscoring the importance of accommodating diverse financial needs.

With over seven million Kenyans already benefiting from the Hustler Fund, President Ruto envisions an expansion of its reach through Shariah compliance. He pledged to adapt other government financial instruments to align with Islamic Law, emphasizing the significance of equitable access to financial resources.

The Hustler Fund, designed to support entrepreneurial ventures, offers loans to individuals and organizations, with plans to adjust interest rates to adhere to Shariah principles.

This move is expected to particularly benefit groups registered under the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA), fostering economic growth and financial inclusivity within the Muslim community.
