The Principal Secretary for the State Department of Water and Sanitation was in the Garissa at the start of the week where he delivered fifty 10000-litre tanks. The tanks will be given 5 per constituency to the water scarce Garissa County. He also commissioned Last Mile water connectivity projects.

This is in line with the discussion the PS had in the month of August, 2023, with the leadership of Garissa where they expressed the need for the government to provide them with collapsible water tanks. The water scarce Garissa with a mainly large pastoralist’s community had made the request to the National Government to help alleviate the current water accessibility challenges in the region.

The national government recognizes the perennial water shortage in Garissa County and is working closely with the region’s leaders to solve this issue.

The PS delivering the water tanks is a promise kept to the people of Garissa which goes to show the dedication by the Kenya Kwanza government to better the lives of all Kenyans. As the President has stated on numerous occasions, his government is keen to keep all the promises made to the people of Kenya.

While in Garissa, the PS Dr. Kiprono and the Governor of Garissa, signed an MOU for the reduction of NRW at 45% and launched Water Police Unit to curb the vice occasioned mainly by vandalism, sabotage and other criminal activities.

The PS, the Governor and MPs of the region also commissioned several water projects in the County including a borehole. The government is keen to ensure all Kenyans have clean and safe water wherever they may be in the country.
