The government is set to go for a 4-day retreat in what it says is anchored on taking stock of its hits and misses.

In a statement, government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura disclosed that the meeting scheduled for February 18 is set to bring on board all cabinet secretaries as well as lawmakers drawn from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and will be held at Lake Naivasha Resort Nakuru county.

”The retreat will give the government an opportunity to evaluate the achievements made over the last 17 months with an aim of consolidating the gains made in order to create the synergy for the execution of programs and activities in the 2024 calendar year,” he stated.

Top of the agenda will be the review of the government lab report anchored on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)plan.

The plan was launched in 2022 to assess the government’s performance across all its 23 ministries as well as 52 state departments and 348 semi-autonomous government agencies.

In November last year the BETA plan was entrenched to assess and track the implementation, progress, and performance of National Government Development Projects, Priority Programs, Presidential Directives, and Crime Statistics across the country.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said at the time that the initiative would enhance the timeliness and credibility of information related to government projects and programs.

“The purpose of Project BETA is to capacitate our officers to better supervise, coordinate, and oversee the effective implementation of National Government policies, programs, and projects, with emphasis on the lowest administrative unit being the Sub-Location cascaded upwards to the Region level,” stated PS Omollo.
