President William Ruto has committed to strengthening diplomatic ties with Brazil to increase investment in agriculture, technology, education, and trade.

Speaking after meeting his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President Ruto revealed that Kenya is also set to form a joint Ministerial Committee with Brazil as it focuses on strengthening its diplomatic relations with Brazil.

President Ruto stated that the committee will help solidify the existing bilateral ties, particularly on areas of education, trade, and commerce between the two nations.

He said that the government is also targeting the government to increase investment in agricultural production and technology.

“Met President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Kenya will strengthen its diplomatic relations with Brazil and target increased investment in agricultural production and technology, education, trade and commerce,” President Ruto said.

President Ruto who is currently in Addis Ababa, said Brazil has also committed to supporting Africa’s development agenda.

The Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is the guest speaker at the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Brazil is the current Chair of G20 and will host the 2024 summit in Rio de Janeiro on February 21 and 22.

The summit will bring together Foreign affairs ministers from the world’s main economies seeking to address urgent issues facing Member state economies.
