President Ruto’s government has reiterated the commitment to revive the fiber sub-sector in the Country by increasing production and improving the value chain.

Principal Secretary, Patrick Kilemi was yesterday joined on an engagement mission by the Principal Secretary for Trade, Alfred K’Ombudo to meet with the cotton, textile and apparel (CTA) value chain stakeholders in Homa Bay County.

The CTA mission team led by Homa Bay County Deputy Governor, Hon. Oyugi Magwanga launched the cotton planting season in the region by distributing seeds to10, 733 farmers. 

CTA mission will also undertake the distribution of certified cotton seeds to farmers across the Country in the cotton-growing regions, which is in line with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to revitalize the textile industry.

“Our Government commitment to revive the fiber sub-sector in the Country by increasing production and improving the cotton value chain is on course as we continue to engage with all the relevant stakeholders”, said PS Kilemi.

The government has also undertaken the distribution of certified cotton seeds to farmers all over the country.

This is in line with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to revitalize the textile industry.
