President William Ruto has urged Parliament to slash its spending on travel and meeting expenses.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Bunge Towers on Thursday, April 25, 2024, President Ruto emphasized the need for Members of Parliament to utilize the fully equipped meeting rooms in the Towers instead of external venues, stating, “There’s no more reason for extra resources to travel to hotels and to places, now that we have all the facilities here.”

He further encouraged House Speaker Moses Wetangula to incorporate these budget reductions in the upcoming budget, expressing confidence in Parliament’s ability to deliver.

President Ruto also addressed the development of ICT hubs in the country, promising to have them operational within the next three to four months.

He stated, “I did instruct both the Permanent Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for ICT and NG-CDF to have a meeting and conclude the challenges that were there so that the MPs can roll out the ICT hubs in the constituencies.”
