The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) in Kenya has offered a game-changing opportunity for public servants and nurses.

In a statement released today Friday, January 5th 2024, HELB urged civil servants to apply for the Training Revolving Fund (TRF) Loans, which offer low-interest loans of up to Ksh 500,000.

According to HELB, this loan is designed to support civil servants in financing their education, covering expenses such as tuition fees, examination fees, library fees, and computer and research fees.

The loan comes with a low-interest rate of 4% per year and can be repaid over a period of up to six years.

In a press release, HELB emphasized the importance of this opportunity for civil servants, stating, “Civil servants, this one’s for you! Application is now open for the Training Revolving Fund – TRF Loans.”

To be eligible for the loan, civil servants must provide two colleagues as guarantors, a recommendation letter from their employer, an admission letter from a recognized university, and other necessary documentation. Repayment will be facilitated through a monthly check-off system from the employer’s payroll.

In addition to the loans for civil servants, HELB has also announced loans of up to Ksh 500,000 for Kenyan nurses pursuing advanced and specialized courses in approved training institutions in Kenya. HELB stated, “This is for nurses pursuing advanced and specialized courses in approved training institutions in Kenya.”

This initiative by HELB is expected to provide significant support to civil servants and nurses seeking to further their education and professional development.

Applications for the loans are now open, and interested individuals are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
