President William Ruto embarked on a two-day official visit to Ghana on Tuesday, 2nd April. State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed announced in a press release that the President’s itinerary includes a State visit to Ghana followed by an official visit to Guinea-Bissau. This marks Ruto’s inaugural visit to Ghana since assuming the presidency in September 2022.
The primary objective of his visit is to strengthen trade and diplomatic relations between Kenya and Ghana. Upon his arrival, President Ruto engaged in discussions with Ghana’s President Nana-Okufo, emphasizing the significance of enhancing relations between the two nations.
President Ruto also made a strategic visit to the Africa continental free trade area, aiming to boost Kenya’s exports of tea and leather. Moreover, he actively participated in the Kenya-Ghana business forum, where he interacted with Kenyan expatriates in Ghana to explore new trade and investment opportunities.
In addition to these engagements, President Ruto is advocating for the transformation of the African Union into a pivotal force for continental unity. Furthermore, he is addressing the pressing issue of the climate crisis and discussing Ghana’s support for the Nairobi Declaration.
