The Ministry of Labour has disbursed Sh2 billion for beneficiaries enrolled under the Inua Jamii programme, with the money for the month of March being released on Friday.

Approximately 1,044,922 Kenyans aged 70 years, registered under the scheme, have begun receiving stipends as part of the disbursed funds.

An additional Sh4.9 million has been disbursed for the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) programme, a complementary initiative.

Beneficiaries will receive their stipends through Mpesa, with specific instructions provided for different beneficiary groups, including Older Persons Cash transfer recipients who will continue to receive stipends through their Inua Jamii bank accounts.

Each older person receives Sh2,000 monthly as part of the programme’s support for the most vulnerable members of the community.
