The Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni chaired a stakeholder meeting focusing on establishing two pioneering centers: the WHO Regional Emergency and Logistics Hub and the Africa CDC Regional Collaborative Centre.

The meeting prioritized resource mobilization, emphasizing financial commitments, technological support, and pooling expertise from governmental and concerned organizations. Discussions included project management strategies, emphasizing transparency and accountability in resource utilization.

The PS highlighted these centers as more than symbolic gestures, representing a collective commitment to advancing healthcare in Kenya and Africa.

Envisioned as hubs of innovation and collaboration, they aim to foster knowledge exchange and resource sharing, leading to transformative impacts on health through joint research, rapid response capabilities, and strengthened public health infrastructure across the region.

PS Mary Muthoni then attended the public hearing for the Health Sector Budget took place at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies, where citizens voiced their views on curative and preventive health services

In preparation for the FY2024/25 and Medium-Term Budget, Sector Working Groups are finalizing proposals, emphasizing transparency and the Constitution-mandated public input.  

The government’s focus lies in preventive healthcare to reduce preventable diseases.

Aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, the government prioritizes equitable healthcare access for all citizens, emphasizing universal health coverage through strengthened Primary Health Care.

The upcoming budget will target programs that enhance the pillars of Universal Health Coverage: Health Financing, Health Products and Technologies, Human Resources for Health, and Digitization of Health Services, showcasing the government’s commitment to fostering a healthier nation and addressing citizen needs.
