President William Ruto is expected to commission a Sh150 million modern market at the Soko Mjinga area in the Lari constituency when he tours Kiambu County on Wednesday.

He will also commission the construction of one section of Mau Mau road in the Nyambari area, where it will be joining the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

The section will connect the highway with Maai Mahiu where it will pass through Nyambari, Escarpment, Matathia, and Kijabe and enter Maai Mahiu.

According to Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa and Lari MP Mburu Kahangara. President Ruto will be accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen among other leaders.

The legislator said Ruto was following up on projects that he had promised electorates during the campaigns.

“They spur development in the region owing to the connection of the villages to the two highways,” he said.

“Traders, travellers and tourists will benefit with eased movement.”

Thang’wa said the construction of the market is funded by the national government through the Economic Stimulus Program.

The senator added that the modern market will help to reduce cases of road accidents in the Soko Mjinga area.
