Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua says his ministry is on a path to restoring the sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP. While presenting the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife 2024 Budget Policy Statements to the National Assembly Committee on Tourism on Thursday, the Cabinet Secretary said that his Ministry seeks to restore the sector to its former contribution of 20% of the GDP.

CS Mutua says his ministry has committed to enhancing the existing tourism infrastructure and experiences. This is a commitment the Cabinet Secretary recently made to tourism stakeholders in Malindi several weeks ago.

The Kenya Kwanza government is committed to mapping out new, exciting circuits, as well as investing in world-class facilities to enhance the tourism experience for the country’s visitors.

As Dr. Mutua stated in Malindi, the government is keen to improve roads and transportation to make it easier for tourists to get around.

Additionally, the Ministry seeks to create new attractions and activities for tourists to experience.

The Ministry of Tourism’s stewardship of the funds collected through the Tourism Promotion Fund is guided by a clear vision of realizing President William Ruto’s BETA program.

By leveraging these resources effectively, Ministry of Tourism aims to catalyze transformative initiatives which will propel Kenya’s tourism sector to unprecedented heights
