In an important collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Kirinyaga County, a medical camp was yesterday held in Kianyaga to address the health needs of the community.

The event witnessed a robust turnout as residents availed themselves of a broad range of services.

Critical screenings for cervical and breast cancer, blood sugar monitoring, nutritional counseling, mental health assessments, and general treatment services were among the services offered.

The vaccination drive was the focal point of the initiative, targeting girls aged 10-14 against cervical cancer, aligning with the ambitious World Health Organization’s 90.70.90 goals.

As the World Marks the World Cancer Day, the Ministry of Health has urged Kenyans to prioritize health as well as regular screening citing that early screening equals early detection.

The Ministry has called to Kenyans to also prioritize health and awareness.

The Medical camp in Kirinyaga served as a strategic move by the Kenya Kwanza government that aims not only to provide immediate preventive care but also to set the stage for universal health coverage.

Beyond the immediate health benefits, the event signified a bold step by the government towards a future where healthcare is a right for all.

The emphasis on disease prevention underscores a commitment to reducing the burden of diseases, as echoed by the Government under the Primary Care Model Afya Nyumbani.

The event was a stride towards a community-centric, inclusive healthcare system that envisions a more health-empowered and resilient population.
