Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has appointed 228 individuals to County Transport and Safety Committees across 38 counties in Kenya. The appointments, as outlined in a Gazette Notice dated Friday, March 29, include six members for each committee, representing a diverse range of stakeholders including county governments, Public Transport Operators Association, and special interest groups.

Speaking on the appointments, CS Murkomen highlighted the importance of these committees in overseeing and advising on matters pertaining to the road transport system within their respective counties. He emphasized the critical role they will play in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the transport network.

According to the National Transport and Safety Act, the newly appointed committee members will work under the supervision of the Authority and will be responsible for preparing audit reports as required. The Act also mandates the committees to perform additional functions assigned by the Authority to enhance the overall transport system.
