President William Ruto’s administration has successfully secured Ksh260 billion to ensure the completion of the Mombasa Gate Bridge, poised to become the longest bridge in Africa.

The press statement released by State House on Thursday, 8th February 2024, revealed that President Ruto had secured a total of Ksh350 billion to finance various upcoming projects, with a substantial portion allocated to the Mombasa Gateway Bridge and the Dongo Kundu Infrastructure Ecosystem.

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen’s strategic engagements with Japanese officials at the second Kenya-Japan Quality Infrastructure Conference in Nairobi culminated in the successful securing of funds for the Mombasa Gateway Bridge, solidifying the administration’s proactive approach in fostering international partnerships to drive infrastructure development.

“Japan is also involved in new major projects such as the Mombasa Gateway Bridge, which will be the longest in Africa,” emphasized Murkomen, highlighting the administration’s collaborative efforts in realizing this ambitious endeavor.

The secured funding not only reflects president Ruto’s dedication to infrastructure development but also signals a significant step towards enhancing Kenya’s economic growth and bolstering its position as a regional leader in transformative infrastructure projects.
