586 Kenyan candidates have been successfully processed for nursing positions in Saudi Arabia, following the Ministry of Labour’s initiative to enhance labor migration between the two countries.

Ministry of Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore confirmed that the candidates have met the qualifications and possess the necessary travel documents, having been cleared by the Nursing Council of Kenya.

In early January, the Ministry of Labour invited applications for 2,500 open positions in the health sector in Saudi Arabia, aimed at addressing shortages in healthcare professionals, including general nurses, personal assistants, and healthcare assistants.

Only 1,765 applications were received for these positions, with a nearly equal split between female and male applicants, highlighting potential opportunities for further recruitment drives to meet demand.

The successful placement of Kenyan workers in Saudi Arabia signifies progress in bilateral labor agreements and opens avenues for increased labor exports in the future, contributing to economic growth and opportunities for Kenyan workers abroad.
