The government has unveiled plans to invest Ksh 148 million from the Universal Service Fund to bolster mobile network connectivity in West Pokot County.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Digital Economy, aims to revolutionize communication infrastructure in the region.

During a recent visit to the county, Principal Administrative Secretary Erick Kiraithe, stated, “The new phase signifies a significant step towards bridging the connectivity gap in West Pokot County.”

The Communication Authority of Kenya has identified seven key sub-locations, including Chepkoriong and Kale, for the mobile network connectivity project.

Deputy County Commissioner David Boen expressed his appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the positive impact on education and security. “The implementation of the USF project has already benefited schools in the county, leading to improved performance,” Boen remarked.

The project is set to transform the region’s access to communication services, with a focus on remote and insecure areas lacking network coverage.

This endeavor is poised to elevate security measures and enhance the overall quality of life for the local populace.
