Labor Ministry’s Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore earlier today joined His Excellency Hon. Simon Kachapin, Governor, West Pokot County and other leaders in marking this year’s United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Makutano Stadium, West Pokot County.

The theme, “United in Action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities” emphasizes the critical role that Sustainable Development Goals plays in reducing inequalities by empowering and promoting the social, economic and political rights for all, including for persons with disabilities in all aspects of development.

Among many initiatives, Labor and Social Protection Ministry has been working on the review of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2003, Policies that promote inclusion.

Also, in line with the President Ruto’s commitment to scale up the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer program about 137,119 persons with disabilities registered, will be subjected to further checks to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria for the Persons with Severe Disabilities Cash Transfer program.

The day also involved the Signing of an MOU between the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) and Huduma Kenya and the distribution of assistive devices.
