Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang on Thursday revealed that learners in primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions are now earning revenue from their creative content, facilitated by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

This initiative aligns with President Ruto’s government directive to create income-generating opportunities for students and institutions, as highlighted during the State Concert by the President.

Ruto’s government acknowledged the significant potential of the creative sector and is committed to providing an enabling environment for artists, creators, and cultural entrepreneurs to thrive.

PS Kipsang noted the government recognizes the immense potential of the creative sector and is committed to creating an enabling environment for artists, creators, and cultural entrepreneurs to thrive.

“To begin with, we are investing in state-of-the-art cultural infrastructure such as theatres, art galleries, and studios. These facilities provide spaces for artists to create, collaborate, and showcase their work to local and international audiences,” he said.

Investments in cultural infrastructure, talent centers at the county level, and funding mechanisms aim to support artists in producing high-quality work, developing skills, and sustaining livelihoods.

Emphasizing the importance of capacity-building, PS Belio mentioned ongoing funding for workshops, training programs, and talent development initiatives. These efforts will not only enhance the quality of performances but also contribute to the growth and innovation of the creative industries.
