In a move to combat corruption, the government has launched a rigorous monitoring initiative targeting the financial accounts and assets of senior officials. Head of Public Service Felix Koskei revealed that the surge in corruption cases has led to the loss of billions of shillings, severely impacting service delivery.

“We are putting on notice government officers involved in graft that they will carry their cross as we have to deal with this vice that has tarnished the name of the government,” warned Koskei during a press briefing at the Women in Procurement and Supply Chain conference in Naivasha.

Already, numerous public service officers have been interrogated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Suspicious accounts containing substantial sums have been frozen as part of the crackdown on corruption.

Furthermore, Koskei assured that the government is committed to settling pending bills promptly, with the Pending Bills Verification Committee (PBVC) set to conclude the verification process within a month.

The government’s dedication to empowering women in procurement and supply chain roles was also emphasized, with Presidential Advisor on Women’s Rights Harriet Chiggai highlighting the challenges faced by women in the industry.
