Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has announced that Kenya and France have agreed on a deal for mega infrastructure projects estimated at Ksh30 billion.

The deal includes Ksh20 billion in funding for the upgrading of the Nairobi Commuter Railway line, aimed at enhancing transport services and mobility in the Nairobi Metropolitan area.

”I am pleased to note that Kenya and France have finalised an agreement to facilitate funding for the upgrading of the Nairobi commuter railway. This project aligns with Kenya’s urban development initiatives aiming to enhance transport services and mobility in the Nairobi Metropolitan area. The amount involved here is close to Ksh20 billion,” Mudavadi said.

France will fund Nairobi Commuter Railway upgrade project, reflecting their commitment to supporting Kenya’s urban development initiatives and infrastructure improvement plans.

Kenya and France will also collaborate on developing eight sports centers across the country, with a budget of Ksh10 billion, aimed at boosting the sports industry and preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027.
