The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) has initiated a comprehensive Housing Survey targeting households and property developers across all 47 counties. The survey, spanning three months, aims to collect vital data on various thematic areas, including household demographics, housing characteristics, land ownership, and infrastructure accessibility.

“We have deployed a team of survey personnel to administer questionnaires to sampled households, developers, real estate agents, regulators, and financiers. The insights gathered will be invaluable for policymakers, planners, and researchers,” stated a KNBS official.

The survey, a crucial initiative under the Statistics Act 2006, seeks to provide updated sector-specific information for evidence-based decision-making and to serve as benchmark statistics for National Accounts compilation.

“We urge all participants to contribute their insights to this vital survey, ensuring the data collected is handled professionally and in accordance with regulations,” emphasized the KNBS spokesperson.

The last Housing Survey in 2011/2012 yielded essential insights into the housing sector, and the upcoming report, scheduled for release in June 2024, is poised to offer comprehensive baseline indicators for sector monitoring and policy formulation. Stay tuned for the revealing outcomes of this pivotal national survey.
