Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced plans to elevate Matulo Airstrip in Bungoma to a fully-fledged airport, aiming to enhance regional mobility.

During a county tour on Wednesday April 3, 2024, CS Murkomen emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “The upgrade is designed to improve the movement of people and goods in the area.”

Highlighting the local benefits, Murkomen mentioned job creation and business opportunities for residents during the airport’s construction.

He revealed, “The project will involve extending the runway to 1.2km of tarmac and constructing a terminal building.”
