In a bid to streamline the passport issuance process and address the existing backlog, the government has unveiled two new halls at Nyayo House. The Immigration and Citizen Services Principal Secretary, Julius Bitok, announced the move during a national border conference in Nairobi, stating, “The introduction of these state-of-the-art facilities will significantly speed up the production of passports.”

Bitok urged citizens to collect their passports promptly, highlighting the expansion of biometric decks from 10 to 20 to enhance the application process. He reassured the public, saying, “The Immigration Department is working tirelessly to ensure timely delivery of passports without any delays.”

The PS also advised applicants to opt for the 50-page passport booklets for faster processing, following delays in the delivery of 34-page booklets. The 50-page booklets are priced at Ksh9,500, while the 34-page ones cost Ksh7,500.

To track the progress of their passport applications, individuals can simply send an SMS to 22222.
