The government has announced its intention to construct 1,450 digital hubs across the country, one in each of the country’s 1,450 wards, aimed at equipping the youth with essential digital skills and reducing unemployment levels.
Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo affirmed, “The government is committed to fully equipping these hubs to empower the youth with digital skills, providing them with the tools to thrive in the digital era.”
These hubs will not only offer internet connectivity but also provide access to tutors and computers, enabling students to explore digital earning opportunities and make their mark in the digital landscape. The initiative seeks to connect residents to a plethora of online jobs and lucrative opportunities.
The deployment of ICT hubs aligns with the government’s ten-year master plan to install hotspots in public centers, driving the country’s full digital transformation.
