Fred Haga has highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities, especially for learners with special needs, citing their therapeutic nature in fostering skills like teamwork and overall development.

Haga made the remarks during the official closing ceremony for the Term One games for learners with special needs (SNE) in Nakuru on Thursday.

The Ministry of Education allocated enhanced funding specifically for children with disabilities, ensuring they receive adequate resources and support tailored to their needs, including expansion of the school feeding program and infrastructural development for special schools.

Despite facing challenges such as unfavorable weather conditions during sports activities, the Ministry of Education has remained committed to overcoming obstacles and providing opportunities for special needs learners to participate in and enjoy sports.

Primary School Special Needs Sports Coordinator John Opiyo highlighted the success of the Term One games and outlined plans for future activities, emphasizing continuity and planning for upcoming events to further engage and benefit learners.
