President William Ruto has urged members of parliament to support the Affordable Housing Bill, emphasizing its potential to provide job opportunities for young people.
He announced the groundbreaking ceremony for the Makenji Affordable Housing Project in Kandara, Murang’a County. President Ruto emphasized the importance of bipartisan collaboration in advancing the legislation through the National Assembly.
Addressing the audience, President Ruto emphasized the substantial employment prospects linked to the affordable housing initiative, with over 300,000 young individuals expected to benefit from job opportunities by the year’s end. He noted that 130,000 youth are already actively involved in construction projects across the nation.
“This is not about political affiliations; it’s about opening up job opportunities for millions of Kenyans in the construction sector,” President Ruto stated firmly.
President Ruto reaffirmed the government’s dedication to combating unemployment by outlining various strategies, including the establishment of ICT hubs in all 1,450 wards nationwide. He also outlined plans for Special Economic Zones and the export of Kenyan labor to expand employment avenues.
In response to critics of the labor export program, President Ruto defended its importance in providing skilled young individuals with opportunities to apply their expertise and earn a living.
“We cannot invest KSh600 billion annually in youth education without a clear employment plan,” President Ruto emphasized.
