Ministry of Agriculture CS Hon Mithika Linturi earlier today concluded a two day visit to Tigania West by laying the foundation stone for the construction of a feedlot. According to the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, the Kenya Kwanza administration is in the process of setting up feedlots in over 31 counties.

These facilities are aimed at enabling the livestock farmers fatten their animals to meet market demands, thereby boosting incomes, enhancing livelihoods, and contributing to the growth of the Kenyan economy.

The construction of these feedlots will improve the livestock sector by promoting better animal management practices. Feedlots provide controlled environments where animals can be fed nutritious diets and receive proper veterinary care.

This will lead to healthier animals, higher-quality meat, and increased productivity in the livestock industry.

In further proof of the government’s dedication to bettering the quality of produce in the livestock sector as well as ensure compliance with market standards, the Ministry of Agriculture is collaborating closely with county governments to train livestock farmers in animal husbandry techniques.

Livestock commercialization remains as one of the key pillars in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) in the Kenya Kwanza government.
