Deputy President Gachagua on Sunday expressed gratitude to President Ruto for attending the retirement service of Bishop Kagunda, highlighting the President’s demonstration of honoring friends and valuing relationships.

The second in command in his speech praised Bishop Kagunda’s leadership and mentorship, emphasizing his role in advocating for truth and fairness in Nyeri County.

DP Gachagua urged President Ruto to consider appointing Bishop Kagunda to a public service role, emphasizing the bishop’s continued sharpness of mind and potential contribution to the nation’s leadership.

President Ruto accepted the request, acknowledging Bishop Kagunda’s capabilities beyond his retirement from the church.

The Deputy President urged Christians and clergy of ACK Mt Kenya West Diocese to ensure a peaceful transition for Bishop Kagunda and to withdraw any legal disputes regarding the succession process. He emphasized Archbishop Ole Sapit’s role in managing the transition and the election of the new Bishop.

He also thanked President Ruto for the government’s firm stance against illicit brews and drugs, praising the courage to make tough decisions for the well-being of citizens. Gachagua for support from the Church in the nationwide crackdown, noting positive feedback from the public regarding the initiative.
